Network License Renewal - Replace Expired License On Server

Created by Steve Hill, Modified on Thu, 14 Mar at 9:13 AM by Steve Hill

Locate your updated Network License File. Please verify the ports in the new license file match those in your current license file - if they are different, feel free to change them. Ports are documented under the license file section of Network License Instructions.

If you don't recall where the license file is stored, on the server, open LMTOOLS and select the Config Services tab. Use the Service Name pull down and select the service associated with Red Transit (if there are multiple).  Below the service name find the text box for "Path to the License File"; this will show the path to where the current license file is saved.

Since the license has already expired, I would go through the following 3 steps to figure out how best to get the service restarted. One of these should work for you - please do in correct order.

1. Start/Stop/ReRead Method
A. Please either replace the entire license file OR the contents of the license file on the server with the contents of the attached license file. Note if you're replacing the entire license file, then it must be the exact same name/path as the previous - if not LMTOOLs will not reread it.

B. Next, on Config Services tab, use the Service Name pull down to select the appropriate service, if multiple services are being used.

C. Next, on the LMTOOLS Start/Stop/Reread tab, veryify the correct service is selected and click reread the license. The Status at bottom should show that it was reread - if not, proceed to method 2.

2. Stop Service, Start Service Method
A. In LMTOOLs Start/Stop/Reread tab, with the correct service selected, click Stop Server and wait for the status to show service has been stopped.

B. Next, Click Start server. You should see the status bar show the service has started up again - it should be fairly quick. If an error code is presented, it's usually do to a firewall blocking a port number specified in the license file - but you can look at these two sites for the code and solution:

C. If a solution cannot be determined, we recommend moving onto the Step 3.

3. Remove the Service and Re-setup

A. On the Config Services tab of LMTOOLs, be sure the correct service is selected in the Service Name pull down. Click Remove service and it will be deleted.

B. Follow the Setup instructions below to create a new service.
