Network License Renewal - Update License On Server

Created by Steve Hill, Modified on Thu, 15 Aug at 1:33 PM by Steve Hill

1. Locate your current Network License File.
  1.     To do this, launch LMTOOLs.
  2.     On the Config Services tab, choose the correct service by selecting it from the Service Name list
  3.     Look at the path of the license file field to find it's location. You can copy this path and open the directory in Windows Explorer.

2. Open the license file in a text editor. The lic file is just a simple text file and can be viewed in any text editor. Open the new license file in another instance of a text editor. Please verify the ports in the new license file match those in your current license file - if they are different, feel free to change them. Ports are documented under the license file section of Network License Instructions.

3. Replace the contents of the existing license file with the contents of the new license file. This can be done using a simple Copy/Paste of the data. Save the license file with the same name and file extension lic

4. Go to the LMTOOLS Start/Stop/Reread tab. Select the correct service from the list and then click the ReRead License File. The status line should tell you it was a successful reread.

5. To verify the license was reread properly, you can use the LMTOOLs Server Status tab. Click on Perform Status Inquiry.

In the report, scroll down and verify it is reading the correct license file. Continue scrolling and you should find the apps license code acronym with a Total count of licenses issued and a total count of licenses in use.
