V3.0.0.2 Ribbon not Appearing on Start

We have found this issue is due to some Windows permissions issue on installation. The installer installs two parts:

1. The core product installation that runs the product

2. The settings files to run the product which end up in the user's Documents directory.


Essentially, what is happening is on installation, the installer does not have privileges to overwrite the files in the Documents directory restricting it from updating the Settings.xml and other files. Thus on Civil 3D startup, the ribbon is not appearing due to issues with the v3.0.0.1 Settings file not having required settings it needs.


To correct the issue, please do the following:


1. Browse to the core installation location

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RTCL_PipeNetworkTools.Bundle\Contents\Win64


2. Copy the following files/folders:

  • LabelProfileViewParts (folder)
  • SlopeCatalogs (folder)
  • NetworkQuantitiesDepthAppSettings.xml (file)
  • Settings.xml (file)


3. Browse to the following Documents directory. Be sure to replace %<INSERT USER NAME>% with the current computer user name.

C:\Users\%<INSERT USER NAME>%\Documents\Red Transit Consultants, LLC\Pipe Network Productivity Tools


Note: if using OneDrive, you may have to click on Documents from the Windows Explorer OneDrive tree and copy the full Red Transit Consultants, LLC folder directory into that Documents folder.


4. Paste the files/folders from step 2 into the directory noted in step 3. Overwrite all files/folders.


5. Open up Civil 3D - ribbon should appear. If it does not, please email support@redtransitconsultants.com for further follow up.
